His Holiness the Dalai Lama made contribution for Nargis victims
New Delhi 9-6-08: The Nobel laureate His Holiness the Dalai Lama has been staunch supporter of Burmese democracy movement and for the freedom of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. Just after Nargis cyclone severely hit lower part of Burma, His Holiness donated $50,000 through International Red Cross.

Today, the Dalai Lama made second contribution through a Burmese Member of Parliament Dr. Tint Swe of the government in exile, NCGUB. Donation conferring of INR 500,000 was made at Radisson Hotel just before His Holiness leaves for Sidney to lecture Buddhist teaching. Kalon Tripa Samdhong Rinpoche, the Prime Minister of the Tibetan government in exile who made arrangement also greeted Burmese representative.
Dr. Swe thanked for donation and promised to reach to needy poor people through Burmese monks. His Holiness asked about the latest situation of delta area and Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. He explained how Nobel Laureates have been trying for the freedom of their fellow sister Aung San Suu Kyi. His Holiness also inquired the fate of the monks of the Saffron uprising. He also expressed his deep condolences and prayed for those died to attain human lives again and meet Buddha.
When asked for the message to the people of Burma the Dalai Lama, citing Buddhist teaching, urged the people not to be shaken by Karma’s deed and not only to pray but also to keep doing hard work for democracy and justice through nonviolence and in accordance with Gauttma Buddha’s teachings.
